I have a couple of friends I’ve met (virtually) through Facebook and Twitter (which I hope to meet face to face someday soon and give big hugs) who’ve chosen to do Random Acts of Kindness in honor of celebrating their up coming birthdays. Yesterday I saw Jeannette Neerpat’s post on her blog titled, “Random Acts of Kindness, Are you up for it?” and today I read Melissa Grant’s blog, “38 Random Acts of Kindness – With Eyes Wide Open” after reading both of these I knew I was ready and up for the challenge and will find a way to do one Random Act of Kindness everyday through December 18th.
Today’s Random Act of Kindness ~ Pay it Forward
I realize in these hard economic times with jobs decreasing and the holiday season upon us that many people within our community are having to make decisions as to whether to pay their rent, fill the oil tank for heat or buy groceries to feed their families, therefore; my first Random Act of Kindness was grocery shopping for non-perishable items to donate to our local food pantry, which is located on Church St. in Woodsville, NH known as Tri-County Cap.
I am not much of a video person; however in honor of Jeannette and Melissa and their campaign to do Random Acts of Kindness (as well as a gentle nudge from Jeannette) I enlisted Kaylee to run the video camera for today’s Random Act of Kindness.
Meeting Dan, Mary & Jackie was a real treat and having them take a few minutes to chat with us was a pleasure as they were quite busy sorting and packaging food for the 3-families waiting when we arrived.
In closing I owe a huge THANK YOU to Jeannette and Melissa for encouraging me to accept the challenge along with them as I learned so much about how doing something to help someone else makes you feel inside!
Now I’d like to challenge each and everyone who reads this to Pay it Forward and find a way to do a Random Act of Kindness, keeping in mind it can be something as simple as buying a coffee for the person standing behind you at your local coffee shop or helping someone carry groceries to their car. I promise you will make someone’s day and walk away feeling great!
Until next time I welcome your comments, suggestions and feedback.

Great job Vickie; we’re proud of you. This goes to further validate one of my favorite sayings: “It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness.”
I think your generous donation today will light several ‘candles’. Good for you.
Thank you Jim! I am writing that saying down and hanging onto it for future reference!
