Riverside Home Renovation Project ~~ Update 7

Here we are just about 10 weeks into the Riverside Home Renovation Project and the changes continue to amaze me

In just 10 weeks so much has been accomplished by the Spooner’s Home Improvement Services at the Riverside Home Renovation Project.

  • The Kitchen has been completely remodeled complete with Hickory Cabinets, Stainless Appliances, Ceramic Tile Flooring and New Windows
  • First floor bathroom has been reconfigured to a larger modern full bathroom with laundry
  • A mudroom/entry was created and an entry closet added for direct access to the kitchen from attached garage/shed

Since last week’s post work has begun on the Living Room, Master Bedroom, Exterior Entry and Porch

The Living room

In my first post you saw that the Living Room had hardwood flooring, paneled walls and a large picture window overlooking the enclosed porch with views of the river below.

The paneling has been removed, sheetrock has been installed and painted, ceiling has been repaired as needed and painted, and the picture window has been replaced with sliding doors.

The Master Bedroom

Work on the Master Bedroom has begun! New sheetrock has been hung and is ready for paint, the closet has been opened up, doors are being hung and the old windows have been replaced.

The Exterior

Although March has been unseasonably cool some exterior work has been started! Originally there was an enclosed back entry, (pictured below on left) the back entrance has now been removed (pictured below on right) and a new entry will be built.

The plan for the original enclosed porch (pictured below on left) is to tear it down and build a deck. The demolition has started and the porch is coming down! (Pictured below on right)

  1. Wow Vickie, It’s amazing to see the start and nearly finished work. I’m glad you included pictures of the porch that I tore down.

The contractors started yesterday building the dormer to the new bathroom! Very Exciting!

    1. Wendy, I’ very excited about how much you’ve already accomplished in a short period! Looking forward to warmer weather to see the changes to the porch and landscape progress! Can’t wait to see how the contractors do with the dormer!

  2. it all looks so nice! We had always talked about putting sliders off the living room where that picture window was…will there still be a porch or deck off the back? By the time you start showing it the beautiful daffodils and rhodadendrum will be a burst of color as people drive up! good luck

    1. Hi Jenn,
Thank you for your comments! The plan is for a deck to be built with a roof! The changes are amazing aren’t they? I too can’t wait to see the beautiful landscape once the snow finally melts and Wendy gets out there to perform her magic with the landscape adding to the daffodils and rhododendron.

  4. Wow, a lot of changes. I like the idea of a deck off those new sliding glass doors, but I also liked the idea of the enclosed sunroom.

Are all these new doors and windows the energy efficient kind? Also, what are they doing with the hardwood floors? I love watching the progress, and that new mudroom is a big plus, at least it would be for my family.

  5. Hi Kathy,

Yes the new doors and windows are energy efficient and I believe the plan is to restore the hardwood floors.

I completely agree with the you on the new mudroom in my opinion it makes keeping house easier when you can unload boots and such upon entry.

Thank you for coming back and commenting on the progress.
